Food Alternatives Offered

 

The following food alternatives will be provided at a Recreation Unlimited camp that are gluten free and/or sugar free.

Gluten Free items include bread, rice milk, cereal, snack bars, cake and cookie mix, pasta, and pasta sauce.

Sugar Free items include ice cream products, snacks, and cookies.

Recreation Unlimited is an ACA accredited camp and an approved waiver provider by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. Recreation Unlimited adheres to best practices in the camping industry and regulations regarding working with individuals with disabilities and health concerns.

Recreation Unlimited Important Update

Recreation Unlimited is committed to providing the best and safest experiences for youth and adults with disabilities and health concerns.  The hiring crisis that is affecting most businesses and organizations, unfortunately is affecting Recreation Unlimited as well.  Therefore, the waitlist for our summer camps may be slightly longer than usual at this time.
 
We will do everything possible to hire and train the best team to provide the level of care each that each of our camp participants needs and deserves.

Recreation Unlimited is looking forward to continuing with camps and programs for individuals with disabilities and health concerns in 2022.

Recreation Unlimited’s philosophy, programs, campus and support team strive to promote the well-being of individuals with disabilities in every aspect. Individuals with disabilities have a full array of camp choices when searching for fun, challenging, accessible activities. Recreation Unlimited is a non-smoking facility. Acceptance to camp is based on review and approval of the camper application, physical form completed and signed by your physician, and camp capacities.
 
Year Round Respite Weekend Camps are for youth and adults (ages 8 and up) with developmental and/or physical disabilities. These camps provide campers and their families a getaway weekend throughout the year. Campers spend a weekend at camp enjoying a variety of activities while their families and caregivers have the opportunity to spend time away from the daily care of the individual.
 
Summer and Winter Residential Camps are for youth and adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities. There is two week long camps for youth (ages 8-22), one week long camp for youth and young adults (ages 8-35) and four week long camps for adults (ages 23 and up), and one week long winter camp for young adults and adults (ages 18 and up).
 
Summer Day Camps are for youth and teens (ages 5-22) with developmental and/or physical disabilities, as well as their typically developing friends and siblings. This inclusive experience allows friends and typical siblings to attend camp together and promotes personal growth in a fun and challenging environment.
Specialty Camps are for youth and adults dedicated to a specific disability or health concern. Both weekend and weeklong camps are available. These camps are designed for certain groups where services and programs are specifically created to meet their needs.

Prader-Willi Syndrome Camp (Adults 23 & Up) – July 4-8, 2022
Greif, Inc. Summer Residential Camp (Youth 8-22) – July 11-15, 2022

Autism Weekend Camp (Youth 8-18) – June 3-5, 2022- Sponsored by Huntington Bank
Autism Family Day Camp – June 5, 2022 (Postponed Until 2023) – Families with a child with Autism (ASD)
Autism Camper and Typical Sibling Weekend Camp (Youth Ages 8-18) – August 12-14, 2022 – Sponsored by Ingram-White Castle Foundation
